The Origin Story
It was 2012, a few weeks after the NFL season had already started, when a group of Sunday Ballers gathered on the lower field at Fallston School for what would become a legendary flag football game. The kind of game where everyone leaves bruised, exhausted, and questioning their life choices.
After the battle, the survivors sat on the small hill overlooking the field, too tired to move, too stubborn to leave. That's when someone mentioned fantasy football. A few guys already played in other leagues, and the conversation started flowing. What if we had our own league?
Johnny C and Rob C were already seasoned fantasy players, and Johnny looked around at the group and said he'd set it up. Just like that, the decision was made. Johnny showed us the way, like any good grandfather guiding his grandchildren into the world.
We called it Sunday Ballers. Ten teams. Auto-draft because we were starting late and nobody had time for anything more complicated. Johnny got it set up on ESPN, and we were off.
The first season started right then and there. Nobody knew it at the time, but something had been born on that hill.
This is how it all began.
The Sunday Ballers would eventually become Drink Strong Fantasy Football League after the league voted democratically on the new name. Jimmy took over as commissioner the following year.
